- Accommodations - There are quite a few highly-regarded hotels and resorts in the area around Soufriere. Most cultivate a luxurious, yet colorful, Caribbean vibe and are designed to blend in to the tropical surroundings. Some, including Jade Mountain pictured above, only have three walls and highlight the Pitons.
- Things to do - A vacation to St. Lucia can be as active as you'd like. Sailing, hiking, diving, snorkeling, biking and zip-lining are just a few of the available options. The Pitons are actually volcanic plugs and there are numerous hot springs and mineral baths to experience. In the town of Soufriere, the Church of the Assumption is a worthy stop. While it is not as well-known as the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Castries (quite a remarkable church), it is a lively, warm and beautiful focal point for the town.
- Getting there and getting around - There are two international airports on the island. UVF is near Vieux Fort in the South and SLU is near Castries in the Northwest. Soufriere is in between the two. Most visitors rent a car (four-wheel drive is recommended), but taxis and helicopters are also available to transport guests to their resorts.
Jade Mountain Resort
It is snowing in Nashville today, but the high in Soufriere, St. Lucia is 86 degrees. In fact, their 10-day forecast calls for a high of 86 every day! So, in honor of St. Lucia's early summer, I'm highlighting the gorgeous Soufriere quarter in today's post.
