One of my favorite Canadian experiences is a vacation visiting some of these spectacular properties. You may fly into Edmonton and fly out of Calgary (or vice versa) and limit your stay to Alberta or, get ambitious, and take the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver and enjoy some time in British Columbia before taking the train to Alberta.
The Jasper Park Lodge is a particularly family-friendly resort because, in addition to the lodge, it offers cabins that sleep up to 16.
Leaving Jasper, you experience a 140-mile journey down the world-famous Icefields Parkway. There are numerous options for hikes along the Parkway (in both the Jasper National Park and the Banff National Park). Athabasca Falls and the Athabasca Glacier (2 separate stops) are must-see attractions.
Check back later this week for "Fairmont Railway Hotels ~ Part 2 ~ Lake Louise to Calgary.
